Women’s Bikepacking Weekender

Women's Bikepacking Essentials - 2 day

“Not all those who wander are lost” – J.R.R Tolkein

2/3 May, 27/28 Jun 2020 | Course dates are available here on our online calendar.

Join a group of like-minded woman for a weekend of adventure, led by guide Annie. On the Women's Bikepacking Weekender, we'll chat through through gear selection and packing, talk about what items really are 'essential' and think about how to be toasty at camp. Never used a poo trowel? No worries! No questions are too out there, so ask away. Over the weekend we aim to build your confidence in everything from bike set up to technical skills and camp-craft. Over the course of the 2-day journey we'll get a chance to look at common route features such as river crossings and how to tackle trickier sections of trail. The overnight is a wild camp in one of our favourite corners of the stunning Cairngorms National Park. The trails we take will be chosen to suit the riding ability of the group — don’t worry, the routes here are friendly and there is something for everyone! Come to learn, come for adventure, come for the fun, come to meet other amazing women and make a new adventure buddy!

The June and September courses are aimed at mountain bikes — we’ll venture onto chunkier surfaces, and fat tyres are the order of the day. The August gravel course will take a mellower route to camp, suitable for that drop bar ‘groad’ bike with 35mm+ tyres. As ever, we’re always happy to chat if you’re unsure.

What do I need?

Some previous experience of riding off-tarmac on mixed surfaces will allow you to get the most out of the course. Whatever your technical ability, the tracks and trails of the Cairngorms have something to offer and we have a huge range of options on our doorstep.

You will need to provide your own mountain bike in good working order. If in doubt, a quick tune up at your local independent bike shop will get you all set.

Bikepacking bags can be provided by us free of charge, as well as the core camping kit of: tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat and stove. Just let us know in advance and we'll help you out.
