Description

We are always on a high yet feeling frustrated when our awesome 2 day WW essentials course comes to a close. Seeing packrafters grow in knowledge and confidence on and around rivers is ace. BUT we know that a person’s ability to absorb information in demanding environments has a limit. We know that to make your practice permanent…well, you need more purposeful practice…more time…and more varied opportunities.
This 5 day course serves as an extension to our popular 2 day white water essentials course. With some knowledge of white water skills and safety now acquired from either our 2 day course or your own personal paddling journeys, this course is all about embedding that learning, and getting lots of practice and mileage in the environment. The aim of the 5 days will be to explore the many fantastic rivers of the Scottish Highlands and embed the skills of:
  • Safe river running as a team
  • Rapid scouting on-the-move and from the bank
  • Safety & rescue skills

…and of course the key white water fundamentals of:

  • break ins/outs
  • Ferry glides
  • S-turns.

Expect plenty of top tips and feedback as we run and play the river as a team, enjoying the many fantastic class 3 runs of the Highlands – Findhorn, Roy, Spean, Spey, Garry, Tay (to name but a few).

Based centrally from Aviemore with all venues a maximum of 90 mins drive from here.
Course Dates:
1st-5th November 2021
Cost:£450 Drysuit included if needed

We came up with this as an idea because alot of Packrafters’ feedback from the 2 day course was that it was great but we now need ‘more’!

We believe different venues allow you to fine tune your knowledge and river reading skills. We all know what a dynamic environment the river is so we want you to be able to apply your skills on all water in your grade not just your favourite section you run laps on. This only comes from getting miles under your belt in as many new locations as we can fit in.
